'Star Wars' films going 3-D >

I’m gonna rant for a second because this is not something I am happy about. I really really hope that they do a good job on this. It seems that Lucas has jumped at every opportunity to capitalize off the franchise in the last decade or so and I really hope that this is being done for the right reasons and not to make another few billion dollars - aren’t you rich enough George? I know that there has been a sort of grudge match between him and Cameron for decades now, I’m hoping that this isn’t George’s way of saying ‘I can do 3D too’. The other thing that frightens me about this is that Star Wars wasn’t originally shot in 3D meaning they will have to do this all in post production. From everything I’ve heard about this process, it doesn’t work very well. I know Lucas has the money, talent and resources to pull something like this off - let’s just hope they do it right, I don’t want this to come out looking like the “quality work” they did making Han’s head move to dodge Greedo’s blaster bolt in the Special Editions. Lastly, I can’t believe I’m gonna pay to see the prequels in theaters again.

Don’t get me totally wrong, I don’t hate Lucas over this. I’m just a bit bummed that they are going to spend a fortune on this after telling fans that there will never be a restored version of the original theatrical releases because it would be too expensive and time consuming. Especially when that is something fans have been asking for for YEARS, and decent 3D has only been around for about a year or so. I hate to see Star Wars jump onto a ‘fad’ like this when there is no real need for it. I don’t think 3D will make it better, but I think it can make it worse. Keeping my fingers crossed that that doesn’t happen.
