However, what most people don’t know is that George Lucas built a full-scale replica of the Death Star for the filming of the original Star Wars trilogy. Lucas’ replica was built exactly to scale; over 160 kilometres in diameter with a fully operational superlaser, 123 hyperdrive field generators and 768 tractor beam emplacements. It’s destruction was filmed in a one-take opportunity for the end of A New Hope when Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance successfully destroy the Empire’s ultimate weapon. I’m not sure what thebubblegumgang is smoking to come up with this stuff, but I want some!
